Sorry, I have no clue why the compiler is choking. We use gcc 4.0.0 under Linux
all the time. I think this must be a compiler bug introduced in the Apple
version (not the first time). We have to figure out a workaround. In the next
couple of weeks we should get a new Macintel with 10.4. I'll try to find a
workaround once we have the machine.
