ok, that's a plausible explanation
do you want to try the 975 fc15 installer?
alternatively, you could try the source installer. run with
--nproc=<number-of-cores-you-have>
our fc16 installer is built on an AMD machine. i wonder if the resulting
binary is compatible with Intel chips. does your machine have AMD or Intel
chips?

Dear Ralf, uname -m is giving "x86_64" I just checked the installer for dev_944 version and apparently I used phenix-installer-dev-944-intel-linux-2.6-x86_64-fc15 instead of 16.

just to be sure we're not missing something obvious, does
uname -m
give you "x86_64"?
did you use phenix-installer-dev-944-intel-linux-2.6-x86_64-fc16 before?

wrote: Hi Folks, I just finished updating phenix-dev-944 to phenix-dev-975 version on Fedora Core 16 OS intel quad-core machine. When I run phenix from terminal "phenix.refine" I am receiving the following error message "Illegal instruction (core dumped)". This is the first time I saw this error. All the other programs run fine except phenix. I downloaded and installed it twice to see if it was an error of download but it still gives the same message. Is it an installation error or is it a bug in this version? Thanks.
