I am running PHENIX on ubunut (karmic koala, 32 bits). On start up I am getting the following message:
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module": libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Any ideas how to solve this issue?
According to this website: http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libcanberra-gtk-module.so&submit=Search+...&system=&arch= If you install the rpm libcanberra-gtk2 maybe it will remove this message.
This isn't an issue, unless you are having problems with the operation of PHENIX itself. It is a bug in GTK and does not affect the operation of the GUI, and I'm not sure there is anything I can do to make it disappear. (The problem is actually with Ubuntu, not PHENIX, since we don't even use or reference the canberra module, which is used to generate GNOME event sounds - which are usually the first thing I turn off on Linux, and we certainly don't use sound in PHENIX.)
Another question... is there a way to automatically search the old messages from the bb?
Add "site:www.phenix-online.org/pipermail/phenixbb" to the Google search terms. Since this question gets asked frequently, I'll add a shortcut for Google to the server tomorrow.
