Hi all, I am starting to use a new computer cluster and just found out by uname that it runs Darwin OS? It is totally new to me and I am wondering if Phenix would run on it? should I use just some Mac installer? I would really appreciate any advices! Thank you! Sincerely, Tanya

Hi Tanya, I use the ones named phenix-installer-<>-mac-intel-osx-x86_64.tar You should check that your cluster is running at 64bit, otherwise select the other similar installer (i386, I think) I prefer the command-line installer because it gives more flexibility. I use it like this ./install --prefix=/a/progs/xtal --no-apps so I can choose where I want it installed and not to install the Mac apps (normally you don't use them in a cluster since Macs do not share their Aqua environment other than by "remote desktop" and that for a single user) Good luck! -- Miguel Architecture et Fonction des Macromolécules Biologiques (UMR7257) CNRS, Aix-Marseille Université Case 932, 163 Avenue de Luminy, 13288 Marseille cedex 9, France Tel: +33(0) 491 82 55 93 Fax: +33(0) 491 26 67 20 mailto:[email protected] http://w2.afmb.univ-mrs.fr/Miguel-Ortiz-Lombardia

Darwin 9.8.0 corresponds to Mac OS 10.5.8, so the 32-bit (mac-intel-osx) installer is required. -Nat
