Error message when starting phenix gui
Dear all Should I be concerned about this error message when starting phenix 1.5-2?: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module": libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Best regards, Folmer Fredslund
I reported the exact same error.
I am on an Ubuntu 9.04 system.
Also if I click on Help>Phenix documentation I get this error:
Using browser /usr/bin/firefox
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module":
libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory
/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.14/firefox: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/libgnome-2.so.0: undefined symbol: g_dgettext
Does it also happen to you?

Unless there are other obvious problems with the GUI, this error can be ignored. I see the same thing (also on Ubuntu 9.04), but everything appears to be displayed correctly. I'll see if I can figure out how to get rid of the message though. -------------------- Nathaniel Echols Lawrence Berkeley Lab 510-486-5136 [email protected]

As Victor mentioned there seems to be an error message about firefox and this prevents the gui from opening the documentation in firefox, at least for me (also on Ubuntu 9.04, but moving to 9.10 soon). Best regards, Folmer

We have to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH on Linux to point to the GTK library we install - I suspect Firefox is being confused by this. Should be straightforward to fix; I'll take a look. ------------------- Nathaniel Echols Lawrence Berkeley Lab 510-486-5136 [email protected]
